Photographer and writer Dan Beecham has been diving and taking underwater pictures since the age of twelve. Born in Didcot, Oxfordshire in 1983, Dan had his first scuba experience in the Florida Keys. He then learnt to dive in the UK, before going on to log hundreds of dive in locations including the Egyptian Red Sea, Australia, and South Africa
In 2004, Dan was awarded ‘Our World Underwater’ Young Photographer of the Year at the prestigious Festival Modial D L’Image Sous Marine - for an image of a Great White Shark. The shot was one of many gathered on an ambitious month-long trip, which started on the Transkei Coast near East London and ended in Cape Town after visiting Gansbaai - South Africa’s ultimate White Shark hot-spot.
Dan continues to write for various publications, and creates instructional / technical articles on underwater photographic techniques and equipment - including a regular column in the hugely popular on-line diving journal x-ray magazine.
